An immigration judge has granted lawyers who represent the National Security Department a little more than 24 hours to provide the legal team of Mahmoud Khalil evidence that it is removable of the United States under the accusations that threw it.
Khalil, a legal permanent resident with a green card, was arrested by immigration and customs compliance agents at his home at Columbia University in New York last month.
Khalil, leader of the protests of the camp in Columbia La Spring last, was arrested on March 8, then taken to an immigration detention center in Elizabeth, New Jersey, before finishing in a Louisian detention center, their lawyers said.

At an immigration hearing in Jena, Louisiana, on Tuesday, Judge Jamee Comans established another hearing for Friday to give time to Khalil’s team to review the evidence and respond to her.
Comans said that he will then make a determination of whether he is removable or order to release him.
Khalil’s wife, who appeared on video at her audience, will give birth in “a couple of weeks,” according to Khalil’s lawyer, Marc van der Hout.
